Anna van Maarseveen - Artist, Producer & Film Composer
Anna van Maarseveen knew she wanted to be a musician from a very young age. She began begging for violin lessons at just four years old, and not long after, she was already creating her own songs. By the age of ten, she was producing her first tracks on the family computer. While her love for writing and producing music was always strong, her passion for composing for film developed later.
In 2022, Anna began studying Composition & Music Production at HKU (Utrecht School of Arts), where her focus shifted towards music production. During her internship with Palmbomen II at World of Paint Studios, she rediscovered her love for composition. She worked on projects such as The Unknown Welcomes Me (2024), composing, producing, and mixing the full soundtrack—winning the award for Best Sound at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in the US. She also contributed as assistant composer on Netflix’s Amsterdam Empire series (2025). These experiences introduced her to large-scale productions and international collaborators, shaping her approach to creating music that enhances storytelling while remaining personal and distinctive.
Now 22, Anna balances multiple roles as a musician, singer, writer, producer, performer, composer, and Music Technologist across The Hague, Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Antwerp. Beyond composing for film and series, she writes, plays bass, and sings in COSMO, an indie pop/rock band she co-founded. She also produces solo music under the name NANO, a Dutch-language electro-pop project. Anna continues to explore composing for film, series, and other forms of media, like theater.

Amsterdam Empire
A first experience with a major production company like Netflix, full of learning and creative growth.
Anna van Maarseveen contributed as assistant composer on Netflix’s Amsterdam Empire (2025), helping shape the series’ musical identity in collaboration with Palmbomen II.
During her internship at World of Paint Studios, Anna van Maarseveen had the opportunity to work on the Netflix series Amsterdam Empire (2025) as an assistant composer. She contributed to multiple aspects of the series’ score, including playing synths, singing, and whistling on several tracks. Anna’s work involved developing melodies and thematic material, assisting with the arrangement and production of cues, and even music supervision, testing different licensed tracks under the same scene. This experience gave her firsthand insight into the demands of scoring a high-profile international series, collaborating closely with both creative directors and technical teams.
For Anna, Amsterdam Empire represented a milestone in her early career: her first major series project, bridging her independent composing experience with the collaborative environment of a large production. It also reinforced her commitment to creating music that enhances story and character, inspired by analogue textures and subtle synth-driven motifs rather than traditional orchestral dramatics.
